Welcome to Geko!
Geko’s story began on 29 February 2020 – Leap Day. It felt fitting to launch on a date that only comes around every four years, symbolising the fresh start we wanted to create for both companies and individuals. Little did we know that within weeks, the world would be turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting a business in such uncertain times was far from straightforward, but it taught us an invaluable lesson early on: resilience is built through adapting to challenges.
For Kathryn, founding Geko was deeply personal. After moving to Iceland in 2016, she faced the challenges of adapting to a new country while trying to build her career. These experiences shaped her vision of creating a company that could not only help businesses grow but also support individuals in navigating their professional journeys. Drawing on two decades of global HR experience, Kathryn envisioned Geko as a place where people strategy was not an afterthought but the driving force behind successful businesses.
Kathryn was soon joined by Hulda, whose entrepreneurial background and MBA helped sharpen Geko’s focus. Hulda brought strategic insight and a wealth of experience from building businesses, helping shape Geko into what it is today: a trusted partner for companies striving to grow sustainably and inclusively.
In autumn 2020, Ania joined the team as a Senior Talent Consultant. With a solid background in technical HR and recruitment from her work at Sii Poland, one of Europe’s largest tech service companies, Ania brought invaluable expertise to Geko. Her knowledge of working in fast-paced, high-growth environments allowed us to expand our services and better support the needs of our clients, particularly in the tech sector.

For early-stage companies, we provide bespoke HR solutions to establish solid foundations. Kathryn’s expertise as a CIPD Chartered Fellow ensures our guidance is strategic and experience-driven, helping businesses attract and retain talent while fostering exceptional employee experiences.
